Phantom of the Rue Morgue opens across the U.S. in 1954. One of the string of 3D films made during the “Golden Age” of 3D in 1952-1955 and is based on Edgar Allan Poe’s Murders in the Rue Morgue and is essentially a remake of the 1932 Bela Lugosi film. Rarely seen now, but a big hit on its release.
