Basil Rathbone is born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1892. The Oscar-nominated and Tony-winning Shakespearean trained stage actor made more than 70 films. Most famous for playing Sherlock Holmes in the 1930s and 1940s, he also appeared in Son of Frankenstein, The Tower of London, The Black Cat, The Black Sleep, The Comedy of Terrors, Tales of Terror and Queen of Blood. He died in 1967.
