Maria Ouspenskaya is born in Tula, Russia in 1876. Her long career began on the Russian stage and finished in Hollywood movies. Though twice nominated for an Oscar, she is now best remembered as the Gypsy fortune teller in The Wolf Man and Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, alongside Bela Lugosi and Lon Chaney Jr. She died in 1949.
