The Bad Seed opens across the U.S. in 1956. Based on Maxwell Anderson’s play and William March’s novel, Warner Brothers very bad kid movie cleverly avoided being shut down by Hollywood’s then-Production Code by a seeming act of God in the screenplay. The film becomes one of the biggest hits of 1956 in the U.S. and U.K. and is highly influential.
