This Day in Halloween: Cult classic "The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T" opens across the U.S. in 1953.

The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T opens across the U.S. in 1953. The artsy, surreal fantasy horror musical is co-written by Dr. Seuss and later disowned by him. With its World War II-influenced themes of oppression and megalomania, it is a major flop on its release, but has come to be regarded as a cult classic.
