An American Werewolf in London opens across the U.S. in 1981. The horror comedy directed by John Landis was the most successful of three werewolf movies made that year, winning the Oscar for Best Makeup and the Saturn Award for Best Horror Film. A sequel, An American Werewolf in Paris, followed in 1997.
