Robert Wise’s Oscar-nominated sci-fi thriller, based on Michael Crichton’s bestselling novel, about a group of scientists investigating a deadly extraterrestrial virus, is notable for Douglas Trumbull’s pioneering special effects. The film is a minor hit on its release and was named by the Infectious Diseases Society of America in 2003 as the "most significant, scientifically accurate,” film of the genre.

The Spanish language version of Dracula premieres in Havana, Cuba in 1931. Made simultaneously with the English-language version that stars Bela Lugosi, Universal’s Spanish version features the same script and sets, but different cast and crew. While a success in Latin America, the film is largely forgotten until it re-emerges on home video in 1992. In 2015, the Library of Congress adds the film to the National Film Registry.
