The Addams Family premieres on ABC in 1964. The first adaptation of Charles Addams’ long-running cartoon characters in The New Yorker stars John Astin, Caroline Jones and Ted Lange. It would run for two seasons. Adaptations of the highly successful cartoon franchise include another TV series as well as an animated series, multiple feature films, and a Broadway musical.
