Near Dark premieres in New York City in 1987. The vampire modern western directed by Oscar-winner Kathryn Bigelow and starring half the cast of Aliens is a critical hit but overshadowed by Fright Night and The Lost Boys and mostly missed by audiences. It later develops a cult following.
