Society, Science, Survival: Lessons From AMC’s The Walking Dead begins its eight-week online course at the University of California at Irvine in 2013. Beginning a day after the season 4 premiere, the multi-disciplinary course applies lessons in math, public health, social sciences and physics to the idea of a zombie apocalypse. Each class includes a 20-minute lecture, quiz with an essay question and exclusive video interviews with cast members answering instructors’ questions. Monmouth University followed with a course of its own a few months later.
