The Blobfest opens in 2000. The unique annual B-movie festival is designed to celebrate the movie The Blob, shot partly at the historic Colonial Theater in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, where the festival takes place. The first festival is two nights of screenings of the film in the newly restored theater, but quickly grows into a regional celebration of B-movie horror, including an annual “runout,” a recreation of the scene from the film when people run screaming out the front door of the theater.
