Eye of the Devil premieres in New York City in 1967. The elegant horror thriller starring Deborah Kerr, David Niven and Sharon Tate in her film debut. Kerr replaced Kim Novak, who left the film after injuring her back two weeks into the shoot. An occultist was hired to give the pagan rites scenes greater authenticity. Though not a success when it was released in the U.S., it has since become cult favorite, mostly due to Tate’s infamous murder two years later.
