The Crimson Cult opens across the U.S. in 1970. Also known two years earlier as The Curse of the Crimson Altar in Britain, the film stars Boris Karloff in one of his final roles, as well as Christopher Lee, Barabra Steele and Michael Gough, it is based on H.P. Lovecraft’s short story The Dreams in the Witch House about a Satanic cult. The film receives mixed reviews and is a minor success when released on a double bill with either Horror House or Count Yorga, Vampire. It is regarded well by Karloff fans.
