Screaming Yellow Theater with host Svengoolie — later known simply as Svengoolie — premieres on WFLD in Chicago in 1970. The character is played by Jerry G. Bishop. Canceled in 1974 and brought back on air in 1979 as Son of Svengoolie, the character is played by Rich Koz and canceled again in 1986. Weigel Broadcasting resurrects the show again as Svengoolie in 1994, later expanding the stations that carried it to Milwaukee and South Bend, Indiana. Since 2011 the show has run on MeTV and is still portrayed by Koz.
