Dexter premieres on Showtime in 2006. The Golden Globe and Peabody Award-winning crime show based on the Jeff Lindsay book series stars Michael C. Hall as the anti-hero serial killer who kills killers while masquerading as a police bloodstain pattern analyst. Over the eight-year-run of the original series, guest stars include John Lithgow, Jimmy Smits, Edward James Olmos, Colin Hanks, Keith Carradine, Julia Stiles, Mos Def, Ray Stevenson, Peter Weller, JoBeth Williams, Jonny Lee Miller, Charlotte Rampling and Sean Patrick Flanery. The success of the series eventually leads to the revival series Dexter: New Blood and Dexter: Resurrected and prequel series Dexter: Original Sin. However, the show is also alleged to have inspired several real-life murders across North America and Europe.
