The Halloween pre-season has begun. Southern California haunt attractions are seeking terrifying talent and scare actors for the upcoming Halloween season.

Shaqtoberfest
Former L.A. Lakers star and NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal will be the star of a new haunt at the Queen Mary in Long Beach. Shaqtoberfest will run through the Halloween season and is casting for performance roles as well as cashiers, parking attendants, greeters, security, and other staff positions. No experience is necessary, but interviews and auditions must be scheduled by appointment.

Knotts Scary Farm
Running September 22- October 31, Knotts Scary Farm is Southern California’s largest Halloween haunt. Celebrating the 49th year of Knotts Scary Farm, they are hiring monsters who exude an energy and dynamic. Performers must be at least 18 years of age. 17th Door
Orange County’s most intense haunted house located in Fullerton is looking for monsters to join their upcoming haunt season. The haunt will run from September 16- October 21 and scare actors can expect to earn $75+ per night. All performers must be at least 18 years old. Auditions will be held 4-8 p.m. Aug. 6, and Noon-3 p.m. Aug. 7.

Reign of Terror Haunted House
This terror house opened in 1999 and touts itself as the largest, indoor walk-through haunted house attraction in Southern California. This haunt opens late September, and runs primarily on weekends through October 31. The attraction is currently hiring scare actors and support staff for the upcoming haunting season. Scare actors are required to be at least 18 years of age.

Castle Dark
Inland Empire’s Castle Park is transforming to Castle Dark again beginning Sept. 23. The park is expecting to hire more than 100 team members as scare actors and production crew for the event’s haunted house and walk through scare zones. Castle Dark is accepting both experienced and amateur scare talent.

Howl – O – Scream
Sea World features San Diego’s largest Halloween nighttime event. This haunt experience runs Sept. 16 through Oct. 31 on select nights. Howl-O-Scream features haunted houses, scare zones, frightful shows, and thrilling coasters in the dark. Sea World is expecting to hire hundreds of enthusiastic performers to join their scare squad. The park is holding multiple auditions through the month of August where applicants will be tested on their ability to startle, scare, and make guest scream!

Maverick Theater’s
Night of the Living Dead and Plan 9 From Outer Space
The Fullerton theater’s long-running fall productions are opening auditions for several roles 11 a.m. Aug. 20 at the theater. Actors must be at least 18 years old and have headshot, resume and proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
