The Human Monster (a.k.a. The Dark Eyes of London) premieres in the U.S. in 1940. Starring Bela Lugosi in a dual role, the British film is the first to receive an “H” rating, meaning “Horrific” for “any films likely to frighten or horrify children under the age of 16 years.” It is one of a long line of films Lugosi makes for Monogram Pictures.
