General Mills officially debuts the horror-themed Count Chocula and Frankenberry cereals on supermarket shelves in 1971. The chocolate and strawberry-flavored cereals are such a hit, blueberry-flavored Boo Berry is introduced a year later. Other horror-themed kids cereals, including Frute Brute and Fruity Yummy Mummy debut, and marshmallow shapes change over the years, as well as a 50th anniversary limited-edition Monster Mash cereal featuring all the monster characters appears in 2021. The original three monster cereals are in year-round production until 2009, when they become a Halloween seasonal cereal.
