The Rocky Horror Show opens at the Royal Court Theater in London in 1973. The musical spoofs sci-fi and horror B movies from the 1930s to 1960s and stars Tim Curry in his iconic role. The production would eventually move to different theaters in the West End before completing a seven-year run of 2,960 performances in September 1980. Various other productions would play in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia, and is followed with a film adaptation in 1975 that becomes the longest-running release and gains perhaps the largest cult following in film history.
