House on Haunted Hill opens across the U.S. in 1959. Producer/director William Castle’s haunted house movie starring Vincent Price was presented in “Emergo,” where a plastic skeleton was dangled over the audience late in the movie. The film’s success inspired Alfred Hitchcock to make Psycho. The film was remade in 1999.
