Haxan, also known as Witchcraft Through the Ages opens across the U.S. in 1922. The Swedish-Danish silent documentary/horror film about how ignorance led to witch hysteria in the dark ages, is banned or heavily edited in parts of the U.S. for nudity and depictions of torture and sex. The film is restored in 1976 and is now considered a masterpiece of European cinema.
