Margaret Hamilton is born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1902. Though she had a decades-long career in various genres, she is best known as the Wicked Witch of the West in 1939’s The Wizard of Oz. She would reprise the role in various forms over the years, but also devoted her spare time to education as well as children’s and animal charities. She died in 1985.
