Shaun of the Dead opens in the U.S. in 2004. The British horror classic is a comic homage to — and loaded with references to  — the Romero zombie films. The film has won Saturn, Bram Stoker, Empire, British Independent, and Evening Standard awards, and was nominated for two BAFTAs. The film is considered the first in star Simon Pegg and director Edgar Wright’s “Cornetto Ice Cream trilogy,” that includes Hot Fuzz and The World’s End.
