The Outer Limits premieres on ABC in 1963. The science-fiction and horror-themed anthology series rivals The Twilight Zone during its original two-season run, with quality writing and acting, but is less successful. Also, the series focuses more sharply on sci-fi, and drops elements of horror in the second season. The series would get a revival with Showtime and the Sci-Fi Channel from 1995 to 2002.
