Frankenstein is released in 1931. The second of Universal Studios’ classic horror films features Boris Karloff’s star-making performance and is the second, though most famous movie made from Mary Shelley’s novel. It spawns two-more direct sequels with Karloff as the monster and four without him. Later, Universal would add Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein and Frankenstein 1970.
