Phantom of the Paradise opens across the U.S. in 1974. Brian De Palma’s modern take on Phantom of the Opera, Faust, and The Picture of Dorian Gray, features music by Paul Williams. Though not a success on its release, it earns Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for music and later becomes a cult favorite.
