Danny Elfman is born in Los Angeles in 1953. The one-time leader of L.A. new wave band Oingo Boingo has even greater success as a film and TV composer. Known mostly for the theme to The Simpsons and his longtime collaboration with director Tim Burton including Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, Sleepy Hollow, and The Nightmare Before Christmas, as well as work in Tales from the Crypt, Nightbreed, Army of Darkness, and The Wolfman.
