Max Steiner is born in Vienna, Austria in 1888. The pioneering, Oscar-winning composer and conductor is considered one of the fathers of film music with more than 300 scores including some of the most famous in film history, like Gone with the Wind, but he also wrote the scores for King Kong, Son of Kong, The Most Dangerous Game, The Monkey’s Paw, The Beast with Five Fingers, Two on a Guillotine and House of Wax. He died in 1971.
