The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms opens across the U.S. in 1953. Inspired by a Ray Bradbury short story, it is one of the first, and one of the best atomic monster films and features the early stop-motion animation work of Ray Harryhausen. The film is said to be partly inspiration for Godzilla 16 months later.
