Tales of Terror premieres in New York City in 1962. The fourth of director Roger Corman’s eight “Poe Cycle” movies, the anthology film stars Vincent Price, Basil Rathbone and Peter Lorre. Richard Matheson penned the screenplay adapting three Edgar Allan Poe tales — The Black Cat, Morella and The Case M. Valdemar. The film is a hit and though it receives mixed reviews on its release, it is now considered one of Corman’s better films.
