“The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe is published in the Evening Mirror in 1845. The classic poem is hugely influential, and has been imitated and parodied, referenced or adapted in dozens of radio and TV shows and movies. It also inspired painter Paul Gauguin and the name of an NFL team.
