The musical version of Little Shop of Horrors opens across the U.S. in 1986. The Frank Oz film of the Alan Menken and Howard Ashman musical — itself based on Roger Corman’s 1960 low-budget black comedy — stars Rick Moranis, Steve Martin and Bill Murray and is a hit. The original 23-minute finale is cut and replaced and not fully restored until 2012. The film eventually develops a cult following.
