Shirley Jackson is born in San Francisco in 1916. The acclaimed author’s career was short, but in less than 20 years, Jackson published six novels, two memoirs, a musical, and more than 200 short stories. Her work includes The Haunting of Hill House, short story The Lottery, The Sundial and We Have Always Lived in the Castle. She died in 1965.
