Christine is published by Viking in 1983. Stephen King’s novel about a car possessed by evil spirits gets mixed reviews but is a hit, and quickly followed by a film adaptation by filmmaker John Carpenter later that year. The American Library Association named it the 95th most banned and challenged book of the 1990s.
