Jack Donovan Foley is born in Yorkville, N.Y. in 1891. The original developer of the creation and recording technique of sound effects for motion-pictures, his work stretches from the early sound films in the 1920s to films like Spartacus in the 1960s. People who perform the craft now are called “Foley artists.” He died in 1967.
