Midsummer Scream Is Bringing Halloween In July!

Midsummer Scream 2022, is bringing Halloween in July to the Long Beach Convention Center.

It will be Halloween in July inside the Long Beach Convention Center when the annual Midsummer Scream returns July 29-31. 

This year’s three-day convention promises nearly 100 panels and presentations, from Mary Gibbs who voiced Boo in Monsters Inc. to Sara Karloff, daughter of Boris Karloff. Also, more than 300 vendors, The Museum of Halloween, and the ever-popular Hall of Shadows, which is expected to feature more than a dozen haunted houses. 

The event kicks off with director and SFX icon Greg Nicotero about the special effects and makeup featured in The Walking Dead. Nicotero is also expected to do a meet and greets with fans all weekend. 

Horror film and TV music panel Spooky Music in Visual Media leads Saturday’s events, along with Tricks n Terror, a presentation on the history of Halloween in the U.S. 

Sunday features a sneak peak of the trailer for Spirit Halloween: The Movie about a group of teens who dare spend the night in a newly opened Spirit Halloween store only to find it haunted and thus on a spooky quest to survive the night. The film is expected to open in theaters in October 2022. 

The finale of the convention is a panel of horror screenwriters moderated by Nay Bever from Attack of the Queerwolf. Panel speakers include the writers of Scream, Freaky, Malignant and Hannibal.

Other notable appearances include Mari Renfro, Janet Leigh’s body double from the classic shower scene in Psycho, the stars of Rob Zombie’s The Munsters, The slimer from 2016’s Ghostbusters, and the Dream Master from A Nightmare on Elm Street 4.

The Midsummer Scream app is available for download on both IOS and Android operating systems and will allow attendees to book their panels and presentations and easily navigate the event space.
