The Hitch-Hiker premieres in Boston in 1953. The crime thriller is a fictionalized account of the real life Billy Cook killing spree and the first major noir film directed by a woman, Ida Lupino. The film is a hit and added to the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry in 1998.
