James Whale is born in Dudley, Worcestershire, England in 1889. The director’s career covered multiple genres, but is an icon for his use of German Expressionism in Universal’s classic Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein as well as The Invisible Man and The Old Dark House. He died in 1957.
