“Werewolves of London” by Warren Zevon is released as a single in the U.S. in 1978. The biggest hit of the singer-songwriter’s long career and something of a novelty song, nonetheless features Fleetwood Mac’s John McVie and Mick Fleetwood on bass and drums, respectively, and becomes a top 20 hit in the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand and is covered by Jackson Browne, The Grateful Dead, and Adam Sandler as well as being sampled by Kid Rock.
