The Fog opens across the U.S. in 1980. John Carpenter directed, co-wrote and scored the film starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Adrienne Barbeau and Hal Holbrook. The film does well at the box office despite mixed reviews and eventually becomes a cult classic. A remake followed in 2005.
