The song “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” is released as the first single by the band Bauhaus in 1979. The nine-and-a-half minute opus based around a simple but chilling three-note bass line was recorded in a single take and never charted in the U.K., but nevertheless put the band at the forefront of what was about to become the goth music scene. The song has since been used in several movies and TV shows including The Hunger and American Horror Story.
