A Christmas Carol is published in 1843. Originally titled A Christmas Carol. In Prose. Being a Ghost Story of Christmas, the novella was an instant hit and helped popularize the expression “merry Christmas” as well as several now common Christmas traditions. The tale would also be adapted for stage, screen and radio dozens of times.
